Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen

4.0

Most people tend to leave Northanger Abbey to the end, and read everything else before they get to this book. After I heard that this is Austen's attempt a gothic fiction, I was immediately interested and picked it up right after Pride and Prejudice. I love Austen's use of sarcasm and wit, and the way she creates the most interesting characters. In my opinion, Henry Tilney was more developed than Catherine Morland, and far more interesting to read, but Morland's innocent adventures were extremely amusing to read as well.

The style of this particular novel is very different from her other works, and she occasionally steps into the narrative to guide us through, which is something I really enjoyed.
