From Twinkle, with Love
by Sandhya Menon
I had mixed feeling about this book. I’ve read when Dimple Met Rishi and I can’t help but compare the two. Twinkle reads a bit younger, maybe due to the setting, but is overall a stronger book than Dimple. In both, there is a better-than-life male love interest and some barrier for the main character in their love story. There are both competitions of talent, a side party, and side characters with a mean girls plot line. In Dimple it falls a bit flat and relies on some problematic tropes. Twinkle has a better developed set of characters and does make an effort to address the short comings of Twinkle herself. Overall this was a light and enjoyable read, but one star off for the formulaic plot line (would have liked to see something that was more different than Dimple).
