I did NOT find this book appealing at all sadly. At first I thought it would be good but then she's locked up and obviously dealing with the fallout of the massacre she witnessed when she was little. No one there to kind of help her through it really. It also goes reallllyyyyyy slow, painful at times. Her rescuer/savior basically has her on a drip for her blood. Orlaith, our MFC, was nice and sweet but quite annoying. I tried to sympathize with her because she's been locked in a tower with little guidance on how to be a good human in the world and life, etc. I felt like she really never developed much as a character. Maybe she will in the second book, but I won't pick up the second one and I hate that because I hate not knowing what is happening.

Pivoting on to her savior, Rhor our MMC, ummmm he's way too old for her and he didn't really help her, he was just using her. He's just not worth a dime. I really disliked his character and what he did with Orlaith. I don't know it felt icky to me that they met when she was 2 years old and I have zero issues with age gaps but this was too much for me. I'd have thought he would be more big brother or father figure not romantic interest. Ew. Just didn't do it for me. Some may like it but I just couldn't get into it and the ick factor was too much for me to enjoy and it definitely has prevented me from wanting to read the next one. I wanted to like this one I really did, I just couldn't do it.
