Mason & Dixon by Thomas Pynchon
5.0
Pynchon's masterwork, IMHO. People refer to various works of his (Lot 49, Inherent Vice) as the most accessible of his byzantine creations. This one's pure humanistic joy. His humor is in full force, his characters breathe (and yes, belch and fart) on the page but the language is his most consistently poetic and there's absolutely nothing "inaccessible" about this one.
