This book does have a mystery. Is it interesting? Not at all, the bad guy is exactly who you would expect.
Are the characters well-written? Kind of. This novel felt strangely anachronistic. It’s written in 2017 and has modern technology but all the characters talk and act like they’re in the nineties. Even the 35 year old “millennial” says shit like cyberspace?? I feel like I’ve had this come across many times in mysteries where the author started writing a few decades ago and hasn’t updated their characters and ideas.
I also think the structure of this book was super strange and formulaic: the slow revealing of people’s histories and secrets was very unnatural. I don’t think I’d read more by this author.
