1984

The book would have been good, had George Orwell’s misogyny and hatred towards women not been so pervasive and deeply woven into the narrative. While the novel’s exploration of authoritarianism and surveillance is thought-provoking, its portrayal of women—as shallow, manipulative, or merely tools for male development—undermines the story’s broader message. Furthermore, the omission of women’s oppression in a dystopian world, where such marginalization is typically central, seems quite convenient.
