The Twelve Lives of Alfred Hitchcock: An Anatomy of the Master of Suspense by Edward White
informative

3.5
Biography of Alfred Hitchock from twelve thematic points of view. The chapters are more essays that explore various aspects of film and culture, than true biography. The fact is that Hitchcock's inner and personal life remains a bit of a mystery. We have little to go on beyond the public persona. But that alone is interesting enough to sustain this very absorbing book, a must for any fan of the films.
Why not thirteen lives, though? That would have been more appropriate, I think.
