Passenger

This was an exciting book! I haven't read a time-traveling book in quite a while, and in reading this I remembered how much I adore all the complications that come with time travel! Rules, not seeing yourself, timeline shifts and blends, being careful not to change history, or changing it so drastically that you or others cease to exist in that timeline. Oh I just love all the drama it creates. Serious stuff you're dealing with when you're talking about possibly erasing futures and lives.
Etta and Nicholas were certainly a love match, very much two ships passing in the night that just happen to come together in a moment that sparks love. They very much care for one another. And it's not an especially selfish love either. They want what's best for one another. Although Nicholas had a hard time realizing that Etta makes her own choices and he cannot take those from her. But that's a product of his upbringing in the 18th century so...I get it at least.
The confrontation I saw building between Etta and Nicholas didn't explode how I thought it would. Etta was especially understanding. And the ending I did not see coming. There was a moment that I thought to myself, "No, the author didn't just do that, did they?! OMG she did! Whaaaat?!" and then I realize that this is not a stand alone book and that there will at least be a sequel, so a new mission and drive had to be established at the end to set things up for book 2. Ah! It's messy messy when dealing with time. But so fun!
I'm rooting for Etta and Nicholas! I ship (ha!) them! #ettalas? Or #nicketta?
