i was pleasantly surprised at this start of this series!

Meeting jaypaw, lionpaw, and hollypaw was quite an adventure. They’re all so spirited it’s not hard to see squirrelflight in them all.

The juxtaposition between hollypaw and jaypaw’s destinies within the clan was a really interesting storyline. I’m glad it didn’t drag out for too long, it felt rightfully fixed.

I’m sad for jaypaw however, his anger is valid but hard to accept. It feels like he’s the only one who doesn’t see how talented he is, just because he feels sorry for himself. Blaming everyone else around him instead of his own insecurities. His hunger for power scares me.

I’m also curious as to what happened with squirrelflight’s birth and the trek through the snow? I’m looking forward to understanding that mystery. It was mentioned twice which makes me think it’ll come up again.

ALSO WELCOME BACK GREYSTRIPE !!!!! but…. i have my qualms. i’m guessing his character experienced some serious shit and has awful PTSD, but i’m sad that his return seems so glossed over. he got a small welcome and that was it??? he loses his deputy-ship and just becomes a random side character? idk i was hoping for more there, like a real reunion between him and firestar. :(  also i don’t love that greystripe took on a new mate, to me that seems like it’s diminishing the connection he had with silverstream.

“i would give my last drop of blood to save your kit.” LEAFPOOL ?? GIRL ARE YOU OKAYYYY ??!! that was so intense for no reason but i loved it.

also can tigerstar let it GO already 😭 visiting his damn grandkids just to try and fuck with thunderclan. COPE & SEETHE!!!

overall, really great start to this new series. not too much, not too little, but just enough to pull you back in for a third time.
