When I first heard about this book I thought that it was really promising and it stayed true until our main character gets into the academy. For me, the plot just didn’t go in the direction that I thought it would considering how fast-paced the first third book was. I thought that it would skip all the school stuff too and then get into business with REALLY changing their world. All the conundrum in the competition and rising as the Primus did not really appeal to me.

I think the writing is good and if ever the author would have another fantasy book I’d definitely check it out.
