Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros

I enjoyed this book. Was it mind-blowingly amazing? No. Did it have anything unique in the Fantasy genre? No. But it was a lot of fun to read and very addicting. For me, I enjoyed it because it reminded me a lot of Divergent, which is a fav of mine (nostalgia perhaps?)

I only have a few minor complaints which didn't really change my opinion of the story but they were still in my mind as I read.

First, her mother is absolutely crazy. I can shrug off everything that she did to Violet as me not knowing her backstory, but omg what a crazy mother.
Second, why did every side character need their own name? Not even just a first name, but also a last name. And then they get mentioned once 7 chapters after they were introduced and then they fade into nothingness or they die. It's not worth my brain power. This entire book is easy reading, don't make me remember obscure character's names.
Third, everyone needs to check their attitude. How come everyone gives unlimited sass to everyone around them???
SpoilerThe students talking bad about the dragons IN FRONT OF THE DRAGONS was the silliest thing I've ever read. Like please hold your tongue. I'm glad a few died because of that.

Fourth, the sex was so funny.
SpoilerWhy does everything have to break and be destroyed? It's giving Twilight.

Fifth,
SpoilerDain's "betrayal" barely felt like a betrayal. I didn't care that he had done that, because I felt like it was pretty obvious something needed to happen to boost the plot.

Sixth,
SpoilerLiam's death was sad, yes, and I understand that that's why people hate Dain for betraying Violet, but honestly his death didn't hit me too much. I really enjoyed him as a character and I was hoping that we would see more of his development but obvs that won't happen. I feel like his death would've been way more impactful if we knew his hopes and dreams. I completely forgot he had a sister. If Rhiannon died, I would've been so sad, way more sad than what I felt for Liam.

Seventh, the buildup to the big twist was not bad! But, I was hoping for something a little more political?
SpoilerI was hoping that Xaden's smuggling would cause a rift between the two countries, but the Venin just pop up like booooo. Idk it felt really random.

Besides all that, it was enjoyable to read. I will be reading the second book, and probably all the books.
