A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson

5.0

I really liked this book! Pip Fitz-Amobi has to complete one final school project to graduate (I think) and she chooses to reopen a closed case in which Andie Bell was murdered and Sal Singh is believed to be the killer. However, Pip does not believe he is the one who killed Andie and wants to interview those close to both Andie and Sal to find out who is at fault or if he really is the murderer the town has come to believe. Along the way, she uncovers more secrets than she bargains for and is put at risk herself when she begins to be threatened by those involved with the case. This book was absolutely gripping and I could not put it down. I enjoyed how many reveals there were and I liked being able to feel like I was also figuring out the case with Pip. However, it took me a little while to get used to the writing style and I wished that it was just a little easier to understand in that regard (but that could have just been that I have read so many first-person perspective books while this was third-person and may have been just a sudden change that I was not able to quickly get used to). Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book and I'm looking forward to reading the next two books. This seems like it could have been a standalone so I am very curious as to where we can go from here.
