Attached: The New Science of Adult Attachment and How It Can Help You Find--And Keep-- Love
by Amir Levine, Rachel Heller
informative
Reading this made me realise how cynical I have become of love. It also made me feel some relief over the things that I thought I was doing that were "desperate" because oh my god people are even MORE desperate. I think my attachment style is so jumbled it's definitely not just one of those things. Interesting read as well from a psychology perspective. I think counterproductively, this book made me realise being in a relationship is so much work and I literally was thinking "why are these people making all these compromises, just break up" for almost every scenario soooo. Yeah it just seems scary that people are sooo attached to other people and that people desire that attachment so much it feels like a deficiency. Seems to be way more trouble than it's worth but what would I know.
My main qualms with this book are that 1. It's a bit dated and doesn't really consider the current dating scene (vomit) 2. Needs editing oh my god the fact that I was catching grammatical errors 3. I hate the use of she/he it's so annoying. Not just because I'm a woke asshole but because it's so clunky 4. Calls Tom a hero??? In (500) Days of Summer DPMO.
