I'd had written a review agreeing that this book had many flaws, then I tried to defend it, and now I'm left with the feeling of this book being misjudged.
In a weird way, this book series reminds me of my own experience with therapy - at first it's exciting and gives positive results really fast and seems like the best thing in the world, but it does slow down and feel disappointing afterwards and doesn't seem worth the effort. But that isn't a sign of it loosing quality, but rather an indication that we've now entered a new stage of deeper introspection.
So, I'll say this in hopes someone reads it: if you liked the first book for it's rom-com qualities, the sequel will feel disappointing. If, however, you enjoyed it because of character journeys and inner turmoil, this might not be so bad after all.
