One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus

5.0

What is it about this novel I like so much? It could be the fact that it is fast paced. It could be that all the characters were likable and some of their secrets shocked me. Though the character types are over-done, they didn't feel cliche at all. Bronwyn doesn't typically outsmart everyone as the geek - cooper isn't a dick - Addie has more levels than just vanity and Nate is not thuggish and hard.

The plot twist was great. I wouldn't say it took me completely by surprise, but the killers reveal is not all of the twist is it?

I think the main thing I like about this novel is that is that there isn't filler. There isn't a character in there that felt misplaced. And thankfully I am actually genuinely happy about the ending. I'm not going to pretend and say I won't read the next one but this I feel could be a standalone novel and I would still be fine with the ending.

I would definitely recommend, the hype is well deserved!
