The Coven by Harper L. Woods

This novel was required reading for our little homegrown book club “Totally Booked”. I did get caught up in the story. Willow is a descendant of witches from her mother’s side AND father’s side. Her mother managed to fake her own death and “hide” Willow and her brother, Ash, from the Covenant. The problem being that as soon as her mother dies, Willow is revealed to the Coven and must be brought to Hollow’s Grove University where the 12 chosen becomes 13. There’s very little about what any of the “students” are learning at HGU, but more about the sexual tension between Willow and her nemesis, Alaric Thorne, who could be her death or her salvation. A Vessel and a Gray? That confused me …. In any case, I read the whole book. It kept me interested. I like the delicious smut as much as the next woman, but the religious undertones and Heaven vs. Hell, Lucifer vs. Christ (or The Covenant) was more than I cared to read into it. Let it be what it is, good versus evil, falling in love, giving up the best of you and your past for your soul mate, your other half. And good sex in the midst of life / world / death altering consequences. I liked it!!! 😁
