Normal People by Sally Rooney
2.25
reflective slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: N/A
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: No

I'm VERY disappointed with this book.
I feel like with Sally Rooneys writing style, it's either you love it or you strongly dislike it. Unfortunatly, this book (including her style of writing) wasn't for me.

That are the main points that made me dislike it so much:

- boring plot
- very repetitive
- monotone and lifeless writing style
- unlikable and boring characters (we have to make a tiny exception with Lorainne here)
- very messy chronology, jumping back and forth in time (big confusion here)
- where are the quotation marks?
- made me feel almost no emotions
- the farest away from a pageturner a book could literally be
- the amount of miscommunication is UNBELIEVABLE
- I felt detached from the characters' minds
-> couldn't comprehend the decisions they've made (even more confusion here)
- the story doesn't go into depth with personalities, thoughts and emotions
- it's filled with very unnessecairy information about everthing, still it leads to nothing
- didn't see the point in the story til the end

To be fair, I liked some of the discussions and intellectual thoughts being put into the storyline. But that's it. Sadly, it feels like this book gave me nothing. Absolutly nothing. In my opinion it was a waste of my time and I probably won't recommend this to anyone.

Sorry, this wasn't for me :(

[ Just wanted to say that I'm not offending any Sally Rooney lovers nor the queen herself. If you like the story, then I'm truly happy for you :) ]
