Named of the Dragon
by Susanna Kearsley
The interweaving of Arthurian legend, Welsh history, and even the baby Jesus at Christmas for the suspense/mystery plot is intriguing with generally well-executed paranormal elements. The romance is what I'd call low heat, mostly a verbal enemies to 'maybes' by book's end, with a strongly implied HEA.
On a reread, this book doesn't hold up so well for me. There's a lot of deception and manipulation that even the FMC participates in, usually with the excuse that she's doing it to maintain and advance her professional career. The love interest is probably the best written and most likeable character by the end.
