This took me through twist after twist after twist. You thin the story goes one way, with a possible yet unintentionally conniving romance between our two protagonists. Then we're taken aback and told another perspective. And then another revelation, not necessarily kind for the main characters.
It was challenging. It was dark. Unsettling and wirh so much shown that was not necessarily said yet painful. But the writing was wonderful, deeply rooted in the style of the Victorian era, with a thoroughly researched plot and an incredibly satisfying ending.
