With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo

”The world is a turntable that never stops spinning; as humans we merely choose the tracks we want to sit out and the ones that inspire us to dance.”

I honestly don’t know how to review this book and I have this dumb rule for myself that I can’t start a new book before reviewing the last one that I read. So, with that said…

I really did enjoy With the Fire on High. I thought it was written really beautifully, and though I don’t usually like the “slice-of-life” contemporaries, I found myself all mushy inside whilst listening to this.

Still, though I enjoyed most of its points and themes, I think something was missing from this. I don’t know what that something is but… yeah.

But I’m still really looking forward to reading more from Elizabeth Acevedo. The audiobook was amazing and I honestly think that more authors should narrate their own audiobooks.
