A good mix of romance and suspense although the characters' backstories are not sufficiently fleshed out.

Elaina and Troy have strong chemistry and their relationship is satisfying overall. Nevertheless, Griffin fails to provide any real depth of feeling or intensity of emotion in their romance. There is a sense that something real exists between them, but this potential is never fully realized.

The serial killer plot is rather run-of-the-mill with nothing that really distinguishes it from the many similar storylines in the genre. That said, there are some exciting scenes and the geocaching element is intriguing and well-developed. The identity of the killer is on the predictable side and there are a couple of plot threads that remain unresolved.

In sum, this is a good RS book despite the abovementioned issues, and readers who balk at dark and gritty descriptions in the vein of Karin Slaughter and Tess Gerritsen will appreciate Griffin's milder style.
