3.5/5.0 - This was an enjoyable read! I switched between the Kindle and audiobook versions, and the narration was also great.

I really liked the main character, Cordi, but I wish there would have been more development of the other characters in the story. For example, the conflict with her sister, Trina, felt quite surface level even with the grand resolutions they reached together at the end. She says that the bond she forms with her three roommates in their very cramped apartment was one of the best things to happen to her, but we don't really see a lot of development outside of her friendship with Tessa, who feels stereotypically vapid (this plays well into the overall story, however).

The magical intervention and how the four young women came into practice were interesting, and waiting for the other shoe to drop for them kept me engaged. The consequences of the magic directly relating to the wants of the young women was a cool take, too. I thought the ending wrapped up a little too nicely, even with Tessa's ending being less than ideal.

The concepts of privilege and secret societies are present without being preachy, and I thought the author did a good job of interweaving the cultural dynamics for Cordi and how they inform her decision-making throughout the book.
