Smoke Gets in Your Eyes: And Other Lessons from the Crematory by Caitlin Doughty

5.0

I feel like my perspective toward death and talking about it can be nicely summarized by the fact that my dad sent the family group chat an article about what happens when people die and specifically said he thought I would find it interesting

But I digress — after taking a palliative care course in pharmacy school and spending a month with the palliative care team and other miscellaneous palliative/hospice care experiences, I am very vocal about wanting to discuss end-of-life options from the medical perspective, so reading this and learning more about the funeral industry side was just So Good. I also felt like it was relatively entertaining and a potentially easy read for people who are not necessarily interested in the nitty gritty details about death and dying (not to say there aren’t some in the book but the vibe isn’t overly morbid).
