Don Winslow does a really good job of painting the small but dark criminal world in Dogtown. This book takes us on Danny’s journey from soldier to reluctant boss of the family.

The characters are well crafted and this first chapter of the trilogy is a great introduction to firms, the relationships between them and shows us the length some can go to defend their egos and families.

The writing style Don Winslow uses is gripping and makes for a page turner.

I really enjoyed this book and after not having reading a book In the genre for a while it was a good way to come back to it and a reminder of why I enjoy a crime fiction novel. I highly recommend
