Invisible Emmie
by Terri Libenson
Interesting read. Kinda like a diary of a wimpy kid for girls. We follow Emmie, shy quiet Emmie and Katie. Emmies parts have dull colours and Katie’s are bright and colourful. She is everything Emmie wishes she was. Emmie is quiet and likes Tyler but a note she wrote as a joke gets out and everyone starts making fun of her. Katie sticks up for her and eventually Emmie says she doesn’t need her help. Emmie talks to Tyler and evening another girl. We find out that Katie was actually made up by Emmie to say the things she couldn’t, be what she wasn’t etc. It did make sense because Katie’s parts were written almost like a comic book panel. By the end, it’s Emmies story that is colourful as Katie fades away. I really liked it but I found the way it was written kind of distracting at times, since there was so much writing but also so much graphic novel type stuff. Still 4/5
