White Hot Kiss
by Jennifer L. Armentrout
An amazing start to what's bound to be an amazing series.
Layla just wants to be normal. But, that's kind of hard to do when she's half-gargoyle-half-demon. (Yeah, it's a weird mix but it works). It also doesn't help that if she kisses someone, she'll suck out their soul, which is so not attractive. Because Layla is mixed she is not fully accepted with either of her kinds. However, Layla decides to embrace her Warden (gargoyle) side and shun her demon side. Her simple demon tagging task gets turned upside down when she runs into Roth. Roth is an upper-class demon that Layla should definetly steer clear of but there's more to Roth than meets the eye. There's also the upside that she can kiss him without worrying about his soul since he doesn't have one. But staying away is easier said than done.
Layla never feels that she fits in with her family, considering that they're afraid to get close to her.. If that isn't bad enough Zayne, her totally drool-worthy crush, only sees her as a sister. Which sucks. Majorly. When Layla becomes closer with Roth we see her start to accept who she really is. I feel like, as a reader, a lot of people can relate to Layla. She's different and insecure about who she is which makes her more relatable. Roth is also our main hero of the book and I just want to say I'm team Roth all the way! I absolutely loved him.
"You need something," he said, and when I stared at him, he added, "Your face."
"My face?"
"It's in need of my kisses."

In the beginning, I didn't know if Layla should trust Roth, but she made the right choice by sticking with him. Even though he is a demon, he's more human than anyone in the book. He shows Layla to embrace who she is and loves her the way she is. It's absolutely beautiful. He did have his own issues that makes you second guess his actions but he makes the ultimate sacrifice for Layla in the end which Broke. My. Heart.
"I lost myself the moment I found you."
Together these two were breath-takingly perfect. They brought out the best in each other. Other characters were Zayne, which I believe is holding back feelings for Layla, and returning characters from Bitter Sweet Love including Danika, Dez, and Jasmine.
All in all this book was perfect, but then again anything written by JLA is usually incredible. The only thing that you shoud be aware of is that ending which seriously kills you.

And I do believe I will die before Stone Cold Touch comes out because that cliffhanger was unreal! JLA writes the best cliffhangers that keeps you on the edge of your seat and leaves you waiting for another year until the next one comes out.

This will be me until November comes.
5/5 stars.
