When Gracie Met The Grump
by Mariana Zapata
A very grumpy 3 stars.
I love a slow burn, but the story itself started out slow. SO slow. It took me forever to get through the first 8 chapters.
I love that the author is branching out a little, but her Gracie and Alex somehow take on the worst characteristics of all her previous MCs and amplify them. Why do her heroines have to have such low self esteem?? Why do they always put the male lead on such high, undeserving pedestals?? And why are they so dense and insecure that they can never see the subtext behind how the hero is acting? (I love that Alex actually called Gracie out for that) Alex here is no prize until the end and as a result, the slow burn doesn’t feel as earned here.
Mariana Zapata continues to be an auto-buy for me..I’m always hoping for the next Kulti or Winnipeg. But this one was not a favourite.
