East of Eden by John Steinbeck

This is easily the best book I ever read for a school class, in this case in high school. It was one of several we read for the class. None of the books we read were provided and we had to buy them ourselves. It was literally a class for reading novels, so everyone in the class, there were about 8 people, wanted to read and discuss the assigned novels together.

8 may not seem like a lot of people, but that was also about 8% of my total class year, the entire school had less than 400 students and was the only high school in town. I was surprised there were even that many. It was great fun.

As for the novel itself, I enjoyed everything about it. I haven't really read many intergenerational works, but I certainly like the idea.
