Two for One: A Sherlock Holmes/Jack Watson Novel by Barry Day

4.0

Updated hardboiled detective story with a Sherlockian chaser. It runs very, very close to Raymond Chandler - down to a framed picture in our hero's office - in both tone and and crime. Think The Maltese Falcon muddled up with The Big Sleep and then add in The Adventure of the Six Napoleons. Enjoyable and occasionally very funny, but the Sherlock aspect feels a bit tacked on. It doesn't really add anything to the narrative or the mystery - honestly, the dog Mike is much more interesting. A potential series that is worth following.

I received an ecopy from the publishers and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
