This was a fucking roller coaster if I’ve ever been on one. This poor girl has experienced loss and abuse and neglect her entire life and is still a strong young woman. I love a resilient FMC! 🙌🏼

In all seriousness… I may never emotionally recover from the ending of this book, I think what was done to her mother will haunt me forever.

Honestly, when I started this and we met and got to know James and Shay a little, I loved them both. Sure, James was clearly not a good person and her mother was miserable… but as long as they’re good to Mina, right?

Then as things progressed, I knew something bad was happening. The pure hell Shay put this poor girl through over the years, the subtle mental/emotional abuse… and then as soon as the physical abuse started, I knew there was no redeeming qualities to this man. And that broke my fucking heart because how the hell is she supposed to find her way out when this is all she knows? Abuse of different kinds from this family she’s been a part of since she was a child.

And while I have some conflicting feelings about Keenan too and his inability to wait until this poor girl wasn’t a child to start something “romantic” with her… she was groomed to the worst extent from Shay but I also feel as though Keenan did a little of that, too.

Don’t get me wrong, this is a work of fiction and I am HERE FOR KEENAN and he better find a way to save her and stay the fuck alive in the end or I will absolutely riot.

Overall, this book already haunts me and I’m dying to find out what happens…
