Preferential Treatment by Heather Guerre

Wasn't expecting a romance bordering on erotica to be my first 5 star of the year but here we are.
I loved the way the fem domme relationship was portrayed and how the characters were able to admit their own faults (looking at you, third act tension). I'm sure someone more versed in the BDSM culture might find flaws but since consent, boundaries, safe words, and safety were accounted for, I can't complain (looking at you, 50 shades).
Literally the only thing I didn't get in this story was why Mikhail was in logistics at the beginning of the book to start out with. Why was he at Kate's desk with her department head to begin with? Guess I'll never know. I can overlook that for all the ways Kate pushed back against the system with the commentary about women being asked to work jobs that don't actually come with more pay even though they are additional requirements for the job description and asking about women in management at development trainings. That was just great.
