My Body Keeps Your Secrets by Lucia Osborne-Crowley

5.0

This was affirming and triggering and beautiful and so hopeful yet difficult to read. I really loved the way it was written - Lucia Osborne-Crowley did a great job of intertwining her story with a number of different women and nonbinary people's stories and included some statistics and research that was impactful but not too overwhelming.

It is such a relief and a joy to read about such relatable complex feelings around sex and relationships that women have been dealing with their entire lives but are so rarely talked about. I really appreciated the book's focus on shame and the way the author grappled with her own questions and confusion throughout her processes of writing. I don't necessarily feel like the topics were fully fleshed out or brought to some concrete conclusion but I think that that speaks to the nature of the subject. We are all constantly processing and discovering and rediscovering the ways in which the things that have happened to us have affected our lives. It is a ongoing, messy process and I appreciate that the author allowed that to be present on these pages.
