I had great expectations for this book and sadly it did not deliver like I thought it would. Don't get me wrong it made me cry and feel things but I did not love it. I did not like the narrator who I thought as very bland until the end when she gets the opportunity to have a real voice but I often found myself skipping through her segments to get to the following part of Evelyn's story. As for Evelyn... I had started to like her, flaws and all and she was an interesting complex character but I stopped caring at some point and just got pissed off by her.

As for the f/f romance which is the main reason why I read this book, I wasn't taken by it. I love messy characters and romance but the pace of the book makes us skip so much that I couldn't fall in love with them: they meet and don't like each other, next scene they become friends, next scene they do friendly things with side pining next scene they kiss. They go through so much ups and downs that I had just hoped they would both stay away given that I always seem to know why they hated each other but never why they loved each other.

Maybe I would have loved this book better if I was a fan of old Hollywood and all the glamour and drama that come with it.
