What a ride this book has been...I have listened to the audiobook version, upon a friend's reccomandation and let me tell YOU, what a great job the voice narrators have done. Avery Caris and Joe Arden are so talented and their narration brought Jescie Hall's story to life beautifully, especially in the scenes where vulnerabilities were exposed and you could sense that raw emotion and the haunting of Hawke's past. Not only did I adore Joe Arden's impersonation of Hawke, but I loved his impersonation of Kid (looking forward to that audiobook).

Nicole, "Nic" lives with her christian boyfriend Patrick, and they've been in a relationship for a few years. She feels happy with him, even though she does not feel very fulfilled in the "bedroom department", and she does not agree with some prejudices Patrick and his family has. But everything she knew and believed is about to change when one day, Hawke, recently released from jail, full of tattoos and bad boy vibes, becomes their roommate.

I think you can tell where the story is heading. I didn't like Nic at first, I felt like she was missing some essence, that she was a bit superficial and lacked some character. But I think it was because she hasn't discovered things about herself yet, and she was fighting her conflicting emotions.  Her inner thoughts were on point sometimes, and I'm glad that she found the person that brought her genuinity to life. However, I wished she was more curageous regarding her doubts about her relationship with Patrick. If someone else ignites those feelings in you and you crave that freedom and release, I think you should reconsider your current situation before acting upon those feelings. But that angst, that electricity and chemistry between Nic and Hawke...πŸ₯΅...steaaaamy...and that passion and exposed emotions, exposed scars and secrets and truths. And Hawke...oh my πŸ’”...I liked how Jescie wrote his character, and I like that he found the person that pulled him from his darkness and loved him how he deserved to be loved. Patrick is a douche canoe.

The ending had me on the edge of my seat. I had a hunch about Hawke's reason for going to jail, and once some more details were unraveled, I was happy to discover the truth, and happy that the characters found their true selves as well. Overall I liked the story and I enjoyed the heck out of the audiobook, so I definitely recommend this version. πŸ‘Œ
