Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer
4.0

i remember reading this book a few years ago and feeling really overwhelmed. jon krakauer is analytical, almost dry, in his writing. under the banner of heaven is about the horrific murder of brenda wright and erica lafferty and the culture of mormonism that played a part. krakauers dry approach can come off as humorous or gruesome depending on the moment; i found myself rolling my eyes and smirking at some of the remarks of these fantasists before my stomach dropped after reading a horrific case of abuse.

i remember really enjoying this book when i first read it a few years ago but i found it much drier this time around. i guess i just didnt have the patience to read chapters upon chapters of mormon history. i understand why we need the context but he couldve like...sped it up a bit lol.
