Maas’ writing clearly improves from this book to her later works. Throne of Glass lacks many of the markers of her later writing, including well developed characters, relationships, and intricate plot connections and development. Narratively this book gets the job done, but not in the same way that had me riveted in her later series.
Minor: Death, Drug use, Slavery, Violence, Blood, Murder, Colonisation, and Injury/Injury detail
