This was an underwhelming thriller for me. Overall, it was very predictable but it was also disjointed. We have the storyline of the woman trying to help her father escape the federal government, who is trying to track him down so he can pay for his ponzi scheme crimes. Meanwhile, we have the 20 year old murder mystery. These could have been two separate books if they'd been fleshed out a bit more. Instead, they felt like two book ideas that had been shoved together.
The whole premise of the 20 year old mystery felt gimmicky to me. We didn't NEED the tooth to be found in the 9/11 debris. It could have been found anywhere and the mystery storyline wouldn't have been affected. For a lot of people, I think this gimmick may pay off, but others may find it triggering so proceed with caution if this is a subject you generally avoid.
