Luka by Jane Harvey-Berrick
4.0

This is my third book by Jane and I'm falling in love with her writing more and more. I was immediately drawn to this one because of the blurb. I can't turn down books with a taboo/forbidden element to it. While this book did have that theme it really took a different approach than what I was expecting. I was all for it though! Not only did this book include one of my favorite subjects, BUT it also included ANOTHER one of my favorites that I wholeheartedly didn't expect and can't say without spoiling it. It did make it an EVEN BETTER story.
This book took me on a rollercoaster of emotions. There was a moment that absolutely BROKE ME. I'm talking about big fat crocodile tears. At first I wasn't sure what to think about some of the characters. Some of them I loved, but I felt like not only did they betray Luka, but betrayed me too. One thing I was certain through the whole book was my love for Luka. He just needed someone to love him for him and not as a pretty face. I was definitely that person. I thoroughly enjoyed watching him powering through his endeavours and becoming stronger than ever.
After reading this I want to dive in to Slave to the Rhythm SO BAD right now and I would if it weren't for the thousands of ARCs I have to read right now. I really want to read more about Ash and Laney right now. And of course to be reunited with Luka.
I'm hoping there will be more books in this series. I'm not ready to give up on Luka's story yet. I certainly NEED more from him. I need to find out what his happily ever after will be like because I refuse that he won't have one. He DESERVES one.
