So good. I have played Word Crush for the last hour because I had to finish listening to the book before I did anything else.

One of the best psychological thrillers I have read in a couple years. Evie Porter has tracked down the perfect guy, Ryan Summer. The reader is let on pretty quickly that she has some kind of motivation for the relationship, and at the same time, she is a very skilled communicator and planner. As author Julie Clark said, “this main character will be the most fun morally gray character you will ever read.” So true. Amazing.

The audio narration is also so good. Thank you libro.fm for providing audiobooks to librarians.

“The words are ones that any girl would love to hear, but they feel weighted. Heavy. And I wonder if he is choosing his words as carefully as I choose mine.” Ch 3

“The first lie wins. It's not referring to the little white kind that tumble out with no thought. It refers to the big one, the one that changes the game. The one that is deliberate. The lie that sets the stage for everything that comes after it. And once the lie is told, it's what most people believe to be true. The first lie has to be the strongest, the most important, the one that has to be told.” …
“The first lie wins.”
Ch 5

“When I was little I’d sit at mamma’s feet and watch these plain girls walk in and then somehow transform when she got her hands on them. It was at that moment I learned you can become someone else with the right hair, the right dress and the right accessories.” Ch 10

“You do whatever you have to do to save yourself and the job.” Ch 32
