Doctor Sleep
by Stephen King
I would actually give this a 4.5, but I did really like it so I rounded up. I wasn't sure about this book when I first heard about it, given that The Shining is probably my favorite book of all time, and a sequel 40 years later made me a little wary. Part of me still thinks that it should have ended when it did, but I also think that this was a good follow-up. There were lots of references to the original book, and even a few to Joe Hill's latest book (!!!), but it was still its own story. I did miss the Overlook Hotel and Jack Torrance though, even though they are not entirely forgotten in Doctor Sleep. It felt like classic Stephen King, which was lovely, and it was also not ridiculously massive. I would recommend it. I wish I hadn't read it so quickly because now I miss it!
