Soul of the Fire by Terry Goodkind

Did not finish book. Stopped at 35%.
The incessant repeating of previous events is getting exhausting and is ruining the pace. i’m constantly skipping paragraphs and sometimes entire pages of details i’ve read over and over and over.
apart from that it feels like goodkind is sometimes writing just to fill up pages, or that he likes his own words so much he can’t seem to shut up.
also i suspect he hates women or has just never been near a real woman in his life because all feminine characters are so terribly written, including poor Kahlan who honestly doesn’t deserve this. and let’s not mention the embarrassing amount of unnecessary rape and trauma porn thrust upon them, in all books but particularly this one.
richard’s arc is getting so incredibly predictable it’s just impossible to empathize with this character anymore. he’s just always right, always honorable and always just. no depth and no evolution.
I started to read this series again out of nostalgia but it’s clear now that 13 year old me had horrible taste in books. I give up.
