This book hooked me in a way that shocked me after the first! I was very pleasantly surprised and invested in the main love story, the magic system, the world, and everything in between.
That being said, Diem’s insistence on distrust was borderline pathological and it was VERY irritating at times— it felt like a device to keep her from getting with Luther, instead of a genuine trait any person would have.
