Lab Girl
by Hope Jahren
Jahren's relating of plant life to her story is remarkable. Beautiful nature writing. The book is mainly, I believe, her finding family with her ever present lab assistant Bill. A good look into a life of a certain personality. Jahren does not hold back to paint a perfect picture of herself by any means in the vein of Cheryl Strayed. This is me, these are my struggles and my triumphs. I would have liked for her to delve a little bit more into how her manic episodes affected her science both good and bad. Note to publishers: can we please stop putting girl into every book title.
