A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini

challenging emotional sad medium-paced

5.0

》Like a needle that points north, a man's accusing finger always finds his woman. Always.《

I don't know how to rate this book, because it is so heartbreaking, sad, horrible and incredibly intense that I am at a loss for words. In my opinion, the book is even better than "The Kite Runner". I learned a lot about the history of Afghanistan and how the wars and suffering have affected the innocent people. Children who suddenly became orphans, women who experienced violence and lost their rights - human rights. A country that, like any other, is full of culture and people who only want to live in peace. The story of the two female protagonists got under my skin and often left me stunned. 100% worth reading, but you have to be prepared for an emotional story.
