This was FUN! this was the first book in forever that I sat down and binged. And not because I was panic reading to finish something before the end of the month but because was genuinely invested. I think this was definitely a case of “right book at the right time” as I just finished a long and slower paced high fantasy book but I also think this book had crack laced within its pages (and I think going in knowing nothing about it made it that much more fun too). 

Typically a bunch of jumping around timelines pulls me out of a story but the way small pieces of information that helped piece things together with the present day were sprinkled throughout the past timeline chapters, I think the skipping around actually drew me in more. I wanted to know WHAT was happening, WHY it was happening and how the fuck we got there. Overall, really enjoyed my time with this one! I’m not entirely sold on the second book but I could be easily persuaded into picking it up
