Tangle of Need
by Nalini Singh
When I think I can't be any more surprised with this series, Nalini Singh proves me wrong.
I confess I was intrigued with this couple. Maybe not from the start, but when I got to know them and realized all the loss they had faced, I knew I had to know more.
And I love them individually and as a couple. As Riaz himself said 'maybe two broken people can make something whole' and that's what happened.
Riaz and Adria were two extremely tortured individuals. They were in so much pain from all that had taken place in their lives, that it didn't seem possible for them to be happy again.
But they couldn't resist the desire for each other. It was something bigger than everything else that was weighing on them.
I'm happy they decided to take a chance, in spite of it being an apparently sex-only, no strings attached kind of relationship in the beginning, because I feel that they were able to truly heal each other's wounds and reinvent themselves.
They were like two pieces in a puzzle, which is kind of funny, considering Adria's fascination with puzzles.
However, I must confess that I was a bit disappointed there was no mating bond between them. I know that doesn't mean they don't love each other. Humans don't have that kind of bond, yet they're able to love unconditionally.
It's the same with Riaz and Adria. They have their own unique bond.
But they are changelings and mating bonds are a big deal for them. It just felt that something was missing. The whole situation with Lisette just added a whole lot of complications that were difficult for me to deal with.
I hope that I'll be able to get used to it. Or maybe they can develop a mating bond, if that is even possible.
Moving on, this book was really awesome, but it was also frustrating, hence why I didn't give it 5 stars.
On one hand, I loved that there were a lot of points of view. I especially loved the ones concerning the Arrow Squad, Councilor Kaleb and Alice. I so cannot wait for development in those fronts!
On the other hand, said povs frustrated me to no end, since it took forever for me to read some important Riaz and Adria moments.
Anyway, I'm going to jump right into the next book. Yay!
