The Inside Edge by Ashlyn Kane

I wanted to like this book, but honestly it seemed all over the place. It didn’t feel like the author had a good editor or team to look at the book and address bumps and plotting issues. Everything just seemed to all happen all at once. The main characters were saying “I love you” within a matter of a month after having some antagonism then getting engaged at the end like it’s nothing.

To add to that, we don’t even really get to see the relationship take place on page for the most part. It feels like there’s all of this going on in the background to make them realize their feelings and the reader just isn’t privy to it.

I feel, with proper editing and plot blocking, the story itself could have been really cute. The characters individually were nice and they did a good bit of individual work on themselves and their lives. I just wish we could have seen them together growing as a couple enough to feel invested in them.
