The premise of this book was delicious, and there were some truly profound and funny scenes. What I liked most was the way that the main character struggled with depression and the decision to cut himself off from his emotions in order to function (using advanced technology). However, that lack of emotion on the part of the main characters (dual POV) made it a little hard to emotionally connect with the book myself. That might have been a purposeful plot device on the part of the author, but overall it detracted from my giving this book a 4-4.5 rating. Top notch sci-fi world-building though!
