It was hard to say why I didn’t quite love the book. Maybe I didn’t like Ingrid sometimes or maybe I didn’t like the ways in which she was similar to me? I felt like the book risks sounding a bit performative at times as well. However, I liked the story of the young Chinese lawyer at a firm because it reminded me of my mother and me.
