Babel by R.F. Kuang
3.0
challenging dark tense slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

I didn't feel attached to any of the characters. I like Ramy the most.
I liked that the ending brought about a complexity of characters and their personalities.
Heavy read.
I felt like it was a lot just a history lesson and an English lesson in one.
I didn't think like formatting of the footnotes. Some were interesting.

I did like that I learned some things. I liked the direct lines drawn from colonialism. From a geographers perspective, I find the opium wars interesting, I also find the distributions of resources fascinating and their direct correspondences to power.
